Created 35 years ago by the University of Guadalajara, the Fair is aimed at professionals and the general public alike, a characteristic that sets it apart from other book fairs around the globe. With business as one of its main goals, it is also a cultural festival in which literature plays a major role including a program where authors from all continents and languages participate, and a forum for the academic discussion of the major issues of our time.

IFLA WLIC 2022
We're back! Dublin, Ireland
After three years without the opportunity to meet in person, we are going once again for a physical conference.
It will be an opportunity to share, learn and innovate, but also to reunite with friends and colleagues after a long break.
We are privileged to be able to do so surrounded by the literary history of Dublin, and the energy and passion of the Irish library field, in the first ever WLIC to be held in Ireland.
We are grateful to the Irish National Committee for their work and support and know that they are assuring delegates of Céad Míle Fáilte – a Hundred Thousand Welcomes!
In conjunction with the Irish National Committee, IFLA will be confirming activities and publishing more information as the Congress plans develop.

30 June. 1894, London’s Tower Bridge is Opened
Tower Bridge in London was officially opened by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. After the ceremony the bascules were raised to allow a flotilla of ships and boats to sail down the Thames.
Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London, resulting in it sometimes being confused with London Bridge, situated some 0.80 km upstream.
